The 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller is a Bluetooth telescopic phone controller designed to provide console-style physical controls for compatible Android and Apple devices.

Its smooth telescopic mechanism holds mobile devices measuring between 100mm and 170mm in length. Once fitted, the enhanced grips and familiar asymmetrical dual-stick layout give a phone the balanced feel of a dedicated handheld gaming system without relying on the phone’s charging port for controller input.

Hall Effect joysticks and analogue triggers provide accurate input while reducing the physical contact and mechanical wear associated with conventional potentiometer-based controls. Tactile shoulder bumpers, a responsive directional pad and wear-resistant metal joystick rings further improve control across action games, racing titles, platform games and compatible emulators.

Two programmable Pro back paddle buttons provide convenient additional control assignments without requiring the user to remove their thumbs from the analogue sticks. 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2 supports button remapping, joystick and trigger adjustment, macros, Turbo and custom-profile configuration.

Bluetooth support makes the controller suitable for compatible mobile games, cloud-gaming services, remote-play applications and emulators that accept external controller input. It does not provide touchscreen mapping, so the game or application must include external controller support.

The controller was originally released and packaged for Android devices. 8BitDo now officially supports compatible Apple devices running the required operating-system versions, with D-input mode used for Apple connections.

The official instruction manual also lists Bluetooth compatibility with Windows 10 version 1903 or later through X-input mode. The telescopic mount remains designed for phones and other mobile devices measuring between 100mm and 170mm in length.

This 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller is covered by a 12-month Retrolize warranty against manufacturing defects and hardware faults arising during normal use from the date of delivery.

The warranty does not cover accidental damage, liquid damage, misuse, excessive force applied to the telescopic mechanism, damaged charging connections, normal cosmetic wear, expected battery-performance changes or unauthorised modification.

Damage caused by an unsuitable charger, cable, power supply or adapter is not covered. This includes damage caused by excessive voltage or current, incompatible fast-charging modes or poor voltage regulation.

Damage, loss of function or bricking caused by installing incorrect, incompatible or unofficial firmware, interrupting an update or carrying out an update incorrectly is not covered by the warranty.

Compatibility differences caused by unsupported operating-system versions, touchscreen-only games, third-party applications, individual streaming services, unusual device or case designs, or devices outside the specified dimensions are not considered product faults.

Why Does The Retail Box Only Mention Android?

This controller was originally released and packaged for Android devices. 8BitDo subsequently added the standard Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller to its official Apple compatibility list.

The Android wording on the retail packaging does not mean that current Apple compatibility applies only to the separate Xbox Edition.

Can I Use This Controller With An iPhone?

Yes. The standard Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller is now officially supported on compatible iPhones running iOS 18.5 or later. Place the controller in D-input mode before pairing.
