Dreamcast VGA To HDMI Adapters

The BitFunx Mini VGA To HDMI Adapter connects directly to the Dreamcast AV port, converting analogue VGA video and stereo audio into HDMI. It draws power from the console, so no separate USB power connection is needed.

With compatible games, it carries the Dreamcast’s 480p progressive-scan VGA output to a suitable HDMI display. This provides a higher-quality source than composite video without fitting an internal HDMI modification.

The adapter supports PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J consoles, but the game must support VGA output. Compatibility can differ between regional releases. This Mini model has no standard-definition RGB fallback for games that do not support VGA.

Output remains 480p; the adapter does not upscale to selectable 720p or 1080p resolutions. Your television or monitor handles any further scaling, and a suitable HDMI cable is required separately.

DCHDMI / DCDigital HW1 Internal HDMI Mod

The HW1 hardware offers native 480p output, 960p integer scaling and a 1080p output mode that places the 960p picture inside a 1080p frame. Optional scanlines and picture settings let you adjust the presentation on a compatible display.

This kit is intended for VA0 and VA1 Dreamcast consoles. Installation requires advanced fine-pitch soldering and internal fitting, making it a project for experienced installers. Check the hardware revision and installation requirements before ordering; the listing is for the kit rather than a fitted service.

Dreamcast RGB SCART Cables

The Premium Sega Dreamcast RGB SCART Cable provides an RGB connection with stereo audio for compatible televisions and video processors.

Dedicated CSYNC, 24 AWG copper conductors, foil and mesh shielding, and a ferrite core form part of the cable’s construction. It supports compatible PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J hardware, with operation also dependent on the individual game’s RGB support.

This is a 15kHz RGB cable, rather than a switchable 480p VGA cable. Match its sync specification to the receiving equipment and use a compatible EuroSCART connection. Japanese JP21 equipment uses a different pin arrangement despite the similar connector.

Dreamcast Upscalers & Video Processors

A separate processor gives you another way to connect original Dreamcast hardware to an HDMI display, particularly when several retro consoles share the same setup.

The BitFunx OSSC V1.8 accepts suitable RGB SCART and VGA inputs. Choose the appropriate Dreamcast cable and confirm the video modes supported by your games and display. Composite video and S-Video cannot connect directly to this model.

The RetroScaler GBS-Control Pro offers multiple analogue inputs, selectable HDMI output resolutions and motion-adaptive deinterlacing for supported interlaced sources. The listed model provides a separate 3.5mm stereo audio output, which should be included in your connection plan.

For suitable standard-definition composite or S-Video connections, consider the RetroScaler2x AV To HDMI Converter & Line Doubler. It accepts supported 240p, 288p, 480i and 576i signals, but does not accept 480p, VGA or RGB SCART input.

GDEMU Optical Drive Emulator & SD Loading

The GDEMU v5.20.5 Optical Drive Emulator replaces the original GD-ROM drive and loads compatible Dreamcast software from an SD card. It offers an alternative to the original disc mechanism for a compatible restoration or modification project.

The currently listed 64GB package includes a black mounting kit. Check the product page for availability and package information before planning your build.

GDEMU requires a VA1 Dreamcast motherboard. VA0 and VA2.1 consoles are not supported. Confirm the actual board revision, especially if the console has previously been repaired or transferred into another shell.

Installation uses the console’s existing connections without motherboard soldering, but requires opening the case and removing the GD-ROM assembly. Once replaced, that drive is no longer available for playing physical discs.

DreamPSU Replacement Power Supply

The DreamPSU Rev2.0 Power Supply replaces the original internal PSU board and uses an external 12V 3A power adapter. This moves mains conversion outside the console while retaining the original power button.

The package includes the replacement board, external adapter and UK, EU, US and AU plug options. It uses the supplied adapter connection rather than USB-C power.

DreamPSU can be used with the original GD-ROM drive, GDEMU or compatible USB-GDROM setups. Consider it as a separate power-supply upgrade when planning your project; fitting GDEMU does not automatically mean every console needs a replacement PSU.

Noctua Dreamcast Fan Replacement

Before fitting, confirm the supplied fan’s power requirements, connection and mounting arrangement against your console revision. These details matter when combining cooling changes with other internal modifications.

A fan replacement addresses cooling-fan noise. Consoles retaining their original GD-ROM drive will still have the separate sound of the disc mechanism during use.
