Sega Dreamcast VA1: Consoles fitted with the standard plastic fan housing and 3-pin fan connection. Some consoles have a different metal fan housing attached to the heatsink assembly, which prevents this kit from fitting. Check the internal fan assembly before ordering; a VA1 motherboard or case label alone does not confirm compatibility.

Installation Overview

Connection & Control Troubleshooting

Fan Does Not Spin: Switch off and unplug the console. Check that the fan and adapter cable connectors are fully seated, that the wiring is undamaged and that the blades are not obstructed. Do not continue using the console without a working fan.

Console Does Not Start Normally Or Shuts Down: Check the fan adapter connection and any connections disturbed during installation. A fan spinning does not, by itself, confirm that the fan-signal connection is correct. Contact Retrolize if the issue continues.

Rattling Or Vibration: Check the mounting duct, fan fixings and cable routing. Make sure nothing touches the blades and that the fan assembly is not being distorted by overtightened fixings.

Lid Will Not Close Or Release Correctly: Check the replacement latch alignment and clearance. Do not force the lid or latch, particularly when using a third-party housing.

Console Is Still Noisy: Identify whether the sound comes from the fan or the GD-ROM drive. This kit does not change the noise produced by the disc-drive mechanism.

This Noctua NF-A4x10 5V Cooling Fan Mod Kit For Sega Dreamcast is covered by a 12-month Retrolize warranty against manufacturing defects and hardware faults arising during normal use from the date of delivery.

The warranty does not cover accidental damage, liquid damage, misuse, damaged connectors, forced insertion, unauthorised modification or damage caused by incorrect installation or an incompatible power connection.

Faults in the console’s existing hardware or connected accessories are not considered product faults.
