Description

Connect your original Microsoft Xbox to a modern HDMI television, monitor, projector or capture device with the BitFunx HDMI Adapter with optical Dolby Digital 5.1 support.

Designed specifically for the first-generation Original Xbox, this plug-and-play adapter converts the consoleโ€™s component-quality analogue video into a convenient HDMI connection. Video and stereo audio are carried through a single HDMI cable, providing a clean alternative to older composite, SCART and five-connector component cable setups.

Whether you need an Original Xbox HDMI adapter for a modern television, a compact Xbox Classic video converter for your gaming setup or a straightforward way to connect original hardware to a capture card, the BitFunx adapter requires no internal console modification, drivers or external power supply.

The adapter supports the video modes produced by the Original Xbox, including 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p and 1080i. Compatible NTSC consoles and games can take advantage of progressive-scan and high-definition output, while standard-definition games remain supported through the same HDMI connection.

An integrated optical TOSLINK output provides Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound when used with a compatible game, optical cable and AV receiver, soundbar or speaker system. Standard stereo audio is carried through HDMI for direct connection to ordinary televisions and monitors.

The adapter is compatible with PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J Original Xbox consoles across hardware revisions 1.0 to 1.6. Installation is simple: connect the adapter to the consoleโ€™s AV port, attach the included HDMI cable and select the correct HDMI input on your display.

With support for the Xboxโ€™s original video modes, optical surround sound and no external power requirement, the BitFunx HDMI adapter provides a practical modern display solution for original Microsoft Xbox hardware.

Critical Info

Maximum Supported Resolution: The Original Xbox supports video output up to 1080i.

Game Resolution Support Varies: Not every Original Xbox game supports 480p, 720p or 1080i. Many games support a maximum of 480p, while some remain limited to standard-definition output.

PAL Console Limitations: An unmodified PAL Original Xbox normally provides PAL standard-definition video modes. Access to 480p, 720p and 1080i generally requires an NTSC-configured console or a compatible modified system with its video region changed.

Enable HD Video Modes: Compatible NTSC or region-switched consoles must have 480p, 720p and 1080i enabled through the Original Xbox dashboard video settings.

Dolby Digital 5.1 Uses Optical Audio: Surround sound is provided through the adapterโ€™s optical TOSLINK output. The HDMI connection carries stereo audio.

Optical Cable Required For 5.1: Dolby Digital 5.1 requires a separate TOSLINK optical cable and compatible audio equipment capable of decoding Dolby Digital. The optical cable is not included.

Game Audio Support Varies: The connected game must support Dolby Digital surround sound for 5.1 output. Games without surround-sound support will use their available stereo or supported audio format.

1080i Is Interlaced: The 1080i mode is an interlaced signal rather than progressive 1080p. Picture quality and compatibility can vary between televisions, monitors and capture equipment.

No External Power Required: The adapter receives the power required for normal operation through the Original Xbox AV port. No USB cable or separate mains power supply is needed.

Display Compatibility: The connected television, monitor, projector, HDMI switch, AV receiver or capture device must support the resolution selected through the Xbox dashboard.

Connect With The Console Switched Off: Turn off the Original Xbox before connecting or removing the adapter.
