Description
Description
Connect an original first-generation Microsoft Xbox to a modern HDMI television, monitor, projector or compatible capture device with the BitFunx Original Xbox Component To HDMI Adapter.
Also known as an OG Xbox HDMI adapter or Xbox Classic HDMI converter, the adapter connects to the console’s proprietary AV port. It uses the Original Xbox’s YPbPr component-video output rather than its composite-video signal, converting the analogue component signal into a convenient HDMI connection. Stereo audio is carried through the same HDMI cable, removing the need for a separate five-connector component cable and analogue audio leads.
The adapter supports video modes produced by the Original Xbox, including 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p and 1080i. It does not upscale games or create additional graphical detail, so the final output resolution depends on the console region, dashboard settings and individual game.
Compatible NTSC consoles can use progressive-scan 480p and the higher 720p and 1080i modes when enabled through the dashboard and supported by the selected game. Stock PAL consoles normally remain limited to their standard PAL video modes unless the console has been suitably modified and configured for NTSC output.
An integrated optical TOSLINK connection supports Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound when used with a compatible game, console setting, optical cable and audio system. Standard stereo audio remains available through HDMI for direct connection to ordinary televisions and monitors.
The adapter supports PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J Original Xbox consoles across hardware revisions 1.0 to 1.6. No drivers, software, external power supply or internal console modification are required for standard operation.
Its aluminium-alloy housing measures approximately 68 × 43 × 18mm, with a 25.5cm integrated console cable. A 1.5-metre HDMI cable is included, while the optical TOSLINK cable required for Dolby Digital 5.1 must be purchased separately.
Finished in Grey, the adapter is dispatched from UK stock with fast delivery, international tracked delivery to supported destinations and a 12-month Retrolize warranty.

Critical Info
Critical Info
Original Xbox Only: This adapter is designed for the original first-generation Microsoft Xbox, also known as the Xbox Classic or OG Xbox. It is not compatible with the Xbox 360, Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S.
Component Conversion, Not Resolution Upscaling: The adapter converts the Original Xbox’s YPbPr component-video signal into HDMI. It outputs the video mode produced by the console and does not upscale standard-definition games to 720p, 1080i, 1080p or 4K.
Maximum Supported Video Mode: The highest supported Original Xbox video mode is 1080i. The adapter does not produce a 1080p output.
Game Resolution Support Varies: Not every Original Xbox game supports 480p, 720p or 1080i. Many games support a maximum of 480p, while others remain limited to standard-definition output.
PAL Console Limitations: An unmodified PAL Original Xbox normally provides PAL standard-definition video modes. Access to 480p, 720p and 1080i generally requires a compatible modified console configured for NTSC video output.
Enable HD Video Modes: Compatible NTSC or region-switched consoles must have 480p, 720p and 1080i enabled through the Original Xbox dashboard before supported games can use them.
Dolby Digital 5.1 Uses Optical Audio: Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound is provided through the adapter’s optical TOSLINK output. The HDMI connection carries stereo audio.
Optical Cable Required For 5.1: A separate TOSLINK optical cable and compatible Dolby Digital receiver, amplifier, soundbar or speaker system are required. The optical cable is not included.
Game Audio Support Varies: The connected game must support Dolby Digital surround sound and the appropriate console audio option must be enabled. Games without compatible surround sound will use their available stereo or supported audio format.
Display Compatibility: The connected television, monitor, projector, HDMI switch, AV receiver or capture device must support the resolution and refresh rate selected through the Original Xbox.
Aspect Ratio: The adapter does not add widescreen rendering to games designed for 4:3. Select the appropriate display setting through the Original Xbox dashboard, game and connected display.
Connection Care: Switch the Original Xbox off before connecting or removing the adapter. Avoid placing excessive strain on the console AV port, integrated cable or HDMI connection.
First-Time Setup

- Switch the display and Original Xbox on.
- Open the Original Xbox dashboard video settings and enable the supported video modes you intend to use.
- Open the console audio settings and enable Dolby Digital when using compatible optical audio equipment.

Additional Information
Additional Information
Is This An Original Xbox Upscaler?
No. The adapter converts the video mode produced by the Original Xbox into HDMI. It does not increase a 480i or 480p game to 720p or 1080i.
Does This Adapter Use Component Or Composite Video?
It uses the Original Xbox’s YPbPr component-video output rather than the composite-video signal used by the standard yellow RCA connection. The adapter converts that component signal to HDMI without changing the resolution selected by the console.
Does The Adapter Output 1080p Or 4K?
No. The highest supported Original Xbox video mode is 1080i. The adapter does not produce 1080p or 4K output.
How Do I Enable 480p, 720p Or 1080i?
Connect the adapter and enable the required high-definition video modes through the Original Xbox dashboard. The console region, individual game and connected display must also support the selected mode.
Does Every Original Xbox Game Support 720p Or 1080i?
No. Game support varies considerably. Many titles support 480p, while a smaller number support 720p or 1080i. Games without progressive-scan or high-definition support continue to use their original standard-definition mode.
Does It Work With A PAL Original Xbox?
Yes. Stock PAL consoles normally output their standard PAL video modes. Access to 480p, 720p and 1080i generally requires a compatible modified console configured for NTSC video output.
Does Dolby Digital 5.1 Work Through HDMI?
No. The HDMI connection carries stereo audio. Dolby Digital 5.1 is provided through the separate optical TOSLINK output.
What Is Required For Dolby Digital 5.1?
A compatible game, the correct Original Xbox audio settings, a TOSLINK optical cable and audio equipment capable of decoding Dolby Digital are required.
Is An Optical Cable Included?
No. The optical TOSLINK cable required for Dolby Digital 5.1 must be purchased separately.
Is An HDMI Cable Included?
Yes. A 1.5-metre HDMI cable is included.
Does It Work With Every Original Xbox Revision?
Yes. Original Xbox hardware revisions 1.0 through 1.6 are supported.
Does It Require USB Power Or A Separate Power Supply?
No. The adapter receives the power required for normal operation through the Original Xbox AV port.
Will It Work With A Monitor Or Capture Device?
It can work with an HDMI monitor or capture device that accepts the selected Original Xbox resolution and refresh rate. Support for interlaced 480i, 576i and 1080i signals can vary between devices.
Does It Work With An Xbox 360, Xbox One Or Xbox Series Console?
No. The adapter is designed exclusively for the original first-generation Microsoft Xbox.
Is International Delivery Available?
Yes. International tracked delivery is available to supported destinations, with available services calculated at checkout.
