Description
Description
Connect your Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance with this 1.8-metre GameCube to GBA Link Cable, designed to unlock the extra connectivity features built into compatible Nintendo GameCube games.
The cable connects directly from a Nintendo GameCube controller port to the EXT connection on an original Game Boy Advance or Game Boy Advance SP, allowing supported software on both systems to communicate with each other.
Depending on the game, the Game Boy Advance can be used as an additional controller, private second screen, supplemental display or gameplay companion alongside the main GameCube experience.
Compatible titles can also exchange data between the GameCube and Game Boy Advance, unlocking bonus content, additional game modes, mini-games, character information or other game-specific features.
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures is one of the best-known examples, using connected Game Boy Advance systems as individual player controllers and private screens during multiplayer gameplay.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles similarly uses Game Boy Advance systems as individual player interfaces, giving each connected user access to personal information without displaying it on the main television.
Other supported titles use the connection in different ways. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker can use a connected Game Boy Advance for additional gameplay features, while Animal Crossing supports Game Boy Advance connectivity for compatible bonus content and portable functions.
Pokémon Colosseum can communicate with compatible Game Boy Advance Pokémon titles, allowing Pokémon from supported GBA games to be used with compatible GameCube features. Pokémon XD and other supported Pokémon software also make use of GameCube and GBA connectivity.
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle is another well-known example, allowing supported data to be transferred between the GameCube and compatible Game Boy Advance software.
Because the functionality is implemented by the individual game rather than the cable itself, the exact features available vary considerably between titles. Some games simply exchange data, while others use the GBA as a controller or additional display.
The cable requires no software installation, console modification or configuration. Connect the GameCube end to a controller port, connect the handheld end to the Game Boy Advance or Game Boy Advance SP, then follow the instructions provided by the supported game.
At approximately 1.8 metres long, the cable provides enough reach for comfortable sofa gaming and multiplayer setups without requiring the handheld user to sit immediately beside the GameCube console.
For users looking to experience the original GameCube and Game Boy Advance connectivity features as intended, this link cable restores one of Nintendo’s most distinctive cross-platform features from the early 2000s.
