The 8BitDo N30 2.4G Wireless Controller provides cable-free control on an original Nintendo Entertainment System using the included dedicated wireless receiver.

Simply connect the receiver to an original NES-style controller port and press Start on the controller to establish its responsive 2.4GHz wireless connection. No Bluetooth adapter, external receiver purchase or permanent console modification is required.

Its slim shape and familiar control layout take their inspiration from the original NES gamepad. The controller combines a directional pad with A and B action buttons, Start and Select controls, dedicated TA and TB Turbo buttons and a HOME control for accessing the Analogue Nt Mini menu wirelessly.

Wireless compatibility includes original Nintendo Entertainment System consoles, the Nintendo Famicom HVC-101, Analogue Nt and Analogue Nt Mini. The original Famicom HVC-001 is not directly compatible because its controllers are hardwired and it does not provide the required standard controller port.

Because the controller and receiver operate as a matched 2.4G system, there is no Bluetooth pairing process or separate adapter to configure. This model does not contain Bluetooth and cannot connect through Bluetooth receivers or BlueRetro adapters.

Nintendo Switch and Windows 10 are additionally supported through a wired USB-C connection. These modern-system connections are wired rather than wireless, and the included original NES receiver is not used.

A built-in 180mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides approximately 18–20 hours of play and requires around one to two hours for a full charge.

Original-Console Version: This is the N30 2.4G NT model supplied with a receiver for original NES-style controller ports. It is not the separate N30 model designed for the Nintendo NES Classic Edition.

Dedicated Receiver Required: Wireless gameplay requires the matching 2.4G receiver included with the controller. Bluetooth receivers, BlueRetro adapters and other 8BitDo receivers are not supported.

NES Classic Edition Not Supported: The included receiver does not fit or operate with the Nintendo NES Classic Edition. That console requires the separate N30 model supplied with a compatible miniature-console receiver.

Original Famicom HVC-001 Not Supported Directly: The original Nintendo Famicom HVC-001 uses hardwired controllers and does not provide the standard controller port required by the included receiver. The later Famicom HVC-101, also known as the AV Famicom or New Famicom, is supported.

First-Time Wireless Connection

1. Switch the original NES, Famicom HVC-101, Analogue Nt or Analogue Nt Mini off.
2. Connect the included 2.4G receiver to an available controller port.
3. Switch the console on. The receiver indicator should begin flashing.
4. Press Start on the N30 controller to switch it on and establish the wireless connection.
5. Wait for the receiver indicator to remain solid, confirming that the connection is successful.
6. Test the directional pad and buttons before starting a game.
7. Once connected, the controller and receiver should normally reconnect when the console and controller are switched on again.
8. Always switch the console off before removing or changing the receiver.

Using TA & TB Turbo Buttons

TA: Provides rapid Turbo A input.

TB: Provides rapid Turbo B input.

Use the standard A or B button for normal input and the corresponding TA or TB button when rapid repeated input is required.

Turbo is provided through the dedicated TA and TB controls. Button behaviour during wired USB operation can vary according to the connected system and software.

Receiver Indicator

Flashing Indicator: The receiver is waiting for or attempting to establish a wireless connection.

Solid Indicator: The controller and receiver are connected successfully.

Wired Nintendo Switch Use

1. Connect the N30 directly to a USB port on the Nintendo Switch dock using the supplied USB-C cable.
2. If the controller is not detected, open System Settings > Controllers And Sensors and enable Pro Controller Wired Communication.
3. Allow the Nintendo Switch to recognise the controller.
4. Test the controls before starting a game.
5. The included original NES receiver is not used for wired Nintendo Switch operation.

Wired Windows 10 Use

1. Connect the N30 directly to the Windows 10 computer using the supplied USB-C cable.
2. Allow Windows to detect the controller.
3. Configure the controls within the intended game, emulator or controller-compatible software where required.
4. The included original NES receiver is not used for wired Windows operation.

Firmware Updating

Firmware and supporting files are available through official 8BitDo Support.

Select the N30 2.4G NT entry and only install firmware explicitly released for the original-console controller and matching receiver. Maintain a stable USB connection throughout the update and do not disconnect the controller until the process has finished.

This 8BitDo N30 2.4G Wireless Controller is covered by a 12-month Retrolize warranty against manufacturing defects and hardware faults arising during normal use from the date of delivery.

The warranty does not cover accidental damage, liquid damage, misuse, damaged charging or receiver connections, unauthorised modification, normal cosmetic wear or the expected reduction in rechargeable battery capacity through normal use and ageing.

Damage, loss of function or bricking caused by installing incorrect, incompatible or unofficial firmware, interrupting a firmware update or carrying out an update incorrectly is not covered by the warranty.
