Applies to

This warranty covers the kit components supplied by Retrolize, including:

• IPS display
• IPS PCB
• Rechargeable battery pack (if included with your kit)
• IPS-ready replacement shell and included external parts supplied in the kit (does not cover cosmetic or accidental damage)

Does not apply to

• Your customer-supplied Game Boy Color (CGB-001) donor motherboard
• Any parts not included in the kit

Warranty period & eligibility

• Length: 12 months from the original purchase date (unless a different period is stated at checkout)
• Coverage: UK and international orders
• Transferability: Non-transferable — valid only for the original purchaser with proof of purchase

What’s covered

Manufacturer defects
Faults in materials or workmanship affecting any kit component.

Screen defects (manufacturing-related)
Issues such as abnormal pixel defects or uniformity faults originating from manufacturing.
Not covered: damage caused by use or installation (pressure marks, cracks, liquid ingress, etc.).

Controls and kit-supplied parts
Failures of any buttons/controls supplied with the kit (including menu/OSD controls, touch sensors, or included switches if applicable).

Rechargeable battery pack (if included)
Defects in materials or workmanship.
Not covered: damage from improper charging, unsafe/incorrect chargers, reversed polarity, or physical damage.

Kit-related power faults
Failure to power on or maintain power due to a defect in the kit.
We do not cover faults caused by the customer’s donor motherboard.

Assessment requirement (important)

If your Game Boy Color stops working after installation, you must send the complete console to Retrolize for assessment before any warranty remedy can be approved. This allows us to confirm whether the issue is caused by the kit or your donor motherboard.

• Shipping to Retrolize is paid by the customer
• If the fault is traced to the kit, the claim proceeds under warranty
• If the fault is traced to the donor motherboard or any non-kit part, it is not covered (we can provide a paid repair quote if you’d like)

Remedies

If a valid claim is confirmed, Retrolize will, at our discretion:

• Repair the defective kit component, or
• Replace it like-for-like (or with an equivalent if unavailable), or
• Refund the purchase price of the affected component(s) if repair/replacement isn’t possible

Exclusions (not covered)

• Customer donor motherboard faults, damage, or age-related degradation
• Accidental or intentional damage (drops, knocks, crushing, liquid ingress)
• Misuse, abuse, or incorrect installation (poor soldering, bridged pads, reversed polarity, operating outside specs, ignoring instructions, extreme conditions)
• Unauthorised repairs or modifications (any work not carried out by Retrolize, third-party alterations, incompatible mods)
• Cosmetic wear that doesn’t affect function (scratches, scuffs, minor shell blemishes)
• Environmental/natural events (floods, lightning, power surges, earthquakes, etc.)
• Loss or theft
• Normal battery wear (expected capacity loss over time and use)

Important notes

• Damage caused by incorrect installation is not covered.
• Use quality, compliant USB charging equipment. Damage caused by unsuitable chargers/cables is not covered.
• Keep your proof of purchase — we can’t process warranty claims without it.
• Warranty replacement parts are covered for the remainder of the original warranty period or 90 days, whichever is longer.
