Applies to: IPS display, screen driver PCB, motherboard ribbon, rechargeable battery pack, and Classic Grey IPS-ready shell supplied in this kit.

Does not apply to: Your own (customer-supplied) Game Boy DMG-01 donor motherboard or any parts not included in this kit.

Warranty period & eligibility

• Length: 12 months from the date of purchase by the original buyer (unless a different period is stated at checkout).
  
• Coverage area: UK & international purchases.
  
• Transferability: Non-transferable; valid for the original purchaser with proof of purchase.
  

What’s covered

• Manufacturer Defects: Original material or workmanship flaws in any kit component.
  
• Screen Issues: IPS screen defects originating from manufacturing (e.g., abnormal pixel defects, uniformity faults) — excludes user-induced damage such as pressure marks, cracks, or liquid ingress.
  
• Button/Control Malfunctions: Any dysfunctional controls supplied with the kit (e.g., OSD/menu controls or included switches).
  
• Rechargeable Battery: Defects in materials or workmanship of the built-in 3000mAh battery. Excludes issues caused by improper charging, incorrect/unsafe chargers, polarity reversal, or physical damage.
  
• Power Issues (Kit-Related Only): Failure to power on or maintain power caused by a defect in the IPS upgrade kit. We do not cover faults attributable to the customer’s donor motherboard.
  

Assessment requirement (important)

If your Game Boy stops working after installation, you must send the complete console to Retrolize for assessment before any warranty remedy is approved. This inspection determines whether the point of failure is our kit or your customer-supplied donor motherboard. Shipping cost s covered by customer.

• If the fault is traced to the kit, the claim proceeds under this warranty.
  
• If the fault is traced to the donor motherboard or any non-kit part, the claim is not covered. We can quote a paid repair if you wish.
  

Remedies

Where a valid claim is confirmed, Retrolize will, at our discretion:

1. Repair the defective kit component; or
   
2. Replace the defective component like-for-like (or with an equivalent if the original is unavailable); or
   
3. Refund the purchase price of the affected component(s) if repair/replacement is not feasible.
   

Exclusions (not covered)

• Customer’s GB donor motherboard (any fault, damage, or degradation).
  
• Accidental/Deliberate/Water Damage: Drops, knocks, crushing, liquid ingress, or deliberate harm.
  
• Misuse/Abuse/Improper Installation: Incorrect fitting, poor soldering, bridging, reversed polarity, operating outside recommended specs, ignoring instructions, or exposure to extreme conditions.
  
• Unauthorised Repairs/Modifications: Any work not carried out by Retrolize, including third-party alterations or incompatible mods.
  
• Cosmetic Damage: Scratches, scuffs, or wear that does not affect function (including minor shell blemishes).
  
• Environmental/Natural Disasters: Floods, earthquakes, power surges, lightning, etc.
  
• Theft/Loss: Lost or stolen devices/parts.
  
• Consumable Wear: Normal capacity loss of rechargeable batteries over time/usage.
  

How to make a claim

1. Contact us with your order number, a fault description, and clear photos/video.
   
2. We’ll issue an RMA and return instructions. Please pack safely; remove game cartridges and personal accessories.
   
3. Shipping: You are responsible for sending the item to us. If the claim is approved, we cover the return shipping within the UK (international returns handled at cost).
   
4. Inspection time: We aim to assess promptly; complex faults may require bench testing.
   
5. Outcome: We’ll confirm the result (kit fault vs donor motherboard or other exclusion) and proceed with the appropriate remedy.
   

Important notes

• Installing this kit requires basic electronics skills; incorrect installation can permanently damage your motherboard and/or kit and is not covered.
  
• Do not use fast-chargers outside the stated USB-C specifications; use quality, compliant chargers and cables.
  
• Keep your proof of purchase; we cannot process claims without it.
  
• Replacement parts provided under warranty are covered for the remainder of the original warranty period or 90 days, whichever is longer.
  

Governing law & statutory rights

This warranty is offered by Retrolize and is governed by the laws of England and Wales. It provides benefits in addition to your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (UK). Your statutory rights are not affected.
