Description

Modernise the power system of an original Nintendo GameCube with the JoungeDIY NGCPSU USB-C Power Supply Mod, a solder-free internal replacement board designed for DOL-001 and DOL-101 consoles.

The NGCPSU replaces the original rear power-input and power-switch board inside the GameCube, replacing Nintendo's proprietary DC power connection with a modern USB-C port.

Once installed, the original external GameCube power brick is no longer required. Instead, the console can be powered from a compatible USB-C power supply capable of providing the required 12V at 3A.

This provides a significantly more compact power setup and can be particularly useful where the original Nintendo GameCube PSU has been lost, damaged or become unreliable through age.

It is also ideal for imported consoles. Because the external USB-C charger handles mains conversion, a compatible UK USB-C power supply can be used with PAL, Japanese NTSC-J and North American NTSC-U GameCube consoles without relying on the console's original region-specific mains adapter.

The replacement board retains the GameCube's original internal power switch and fan connections, providing a clean internal installation rather than using an external converter attached to the original DC socket.

Installation is solder-free. The original power-input board is unplugged and removed before the NGCPSU is fitted in its place using the existing internal connections.

Console disassembly is required, including removal of the GameCube shell, so suitable Gamebit and Phillips screwdrivers should be available before installation.

Built-in overvoltage protection provides additional protection for the console when the board is used with a correctly specified power source.

The USB-C power supply itself is important. The NGCPSU requires a compatible charger providing 12V / 3A. A high headline wattage alone does not guarantee compatibility, as some modern USB-C chargers omit a fixed 12V output profile.

Users should therefore check the output specifications printed on the charger or supplied by its manufacturer before use. Basic 5V USB chargers and USB-C power sources without the required 12V output should not be used.

A suitably rated USB-C to USB-C cable should also be used to reliably deliver the required current.

Unlike an external USB-C adapter, the NGCPSU provides a fully integrated modification with the USB-C socket positioned directly at the rear of the GameCube, giving the finished installation a clean and compact appearance.

For users looking for a GameCube USB-C mod, replacement GameCube PSU solution, modern power input upgrade or alternative to an ageing original Nintendo power brick, the NGCPSU provides a straightforward internal solution without motherboard soldering.

Critical Info

12V / 3A USB-C Power Required: A compatible USB-C power supply capable of providing 12V at 3A is required.

Check The Charger Output Profiles: A charger being rated at 45W, 65W or higher does not automatically make it compatible. Its listed USB-C output specifications must include 12V / 3A.

Power Adapter & Cable Not Included: This listing is for the NGCPSU internal power board only. A compatible USB-C charger and cable are required separately.

Console Disassembly Required: The GameCube must be opened and the original rear power-input board removed. Installation itself does not require soldering.

Original GameCube PSU Cannot Be Used After Installation: The original proprietary GameCube DC power connection is replaced by USB-C.
