Anbernic RG40XX H 64GB Sandisk Retro Gaming Handheld Emulation Console

The Anbernic RG40XX H 64GB is a Linux retro gaming handheld designed for comfortable horizontal play, classic console emulation and portable gaming.

Its 4-inch IPS display uses OCA full lamination, a sharp 640 × 480 resolution and a traditional 4:3 aspect ratio. This makes it particularly well suited to classic home consoles, handheld systems, original PlayStation software and arcade games.

Inside the RG40XX H is an Allwinner H700 processor with four ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores running at up to 1.5GHz, dual-core Mali-G31 MP2 graphics and 1GB of memory. This provides responsive navigation and dependable performance across most 8-bit, 16-bit, arcade and original PlayStation platforms.

Selected Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, PSP and Nintendo DS software is also supported, although performance and control suitability vary between individual games, emulators and settings.

The horizontal design combines a traditional D-pad and four face buttons with dual analogue sticks, four shoulder controls and built-in vibration. The analogue sticks feature customisable 16-million-colour RGB lighting with adjustable brightness and multiple lighting effects.

Built-in dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and external controller support provide additional options for compatible accessories, streaming and wireless features. Mini HDMI output also allows the handheld to be connected to a compatible television or monitor using a separately available cable.

This upgraded Retrolize configuration includes a genuine 64GB SanDisk microSD card with the Linux system installation prepared and configured before dispatch. Two microSD card slots provide additional flexibility, with manufacturer-rated expansion support up to 512GB using a compatible card.

The built-in 3200mAh rechargeable battery provides up to approximately six hours of use, depending on screen brightness, RGB lighting, wireless connectivity, volume, vibration, emulator and system workload.

Each console includes a protective EVA carry case, charging cable, instruction booklet and retail box. It is dispatched from UK stock with fast delivery, international tracked delivery to supported destinations and a 12-month Retrolize warranty.

Performance varies between individual titles, emulator versions and settings. A system being listed as supported does not mean that games for that system are included on the console; it means that the RG40XX H can run compatible software for that platform.

Upper-End Performance Varies: The RG40XX H provides strong performance across most 8-bit, 16-bit, arcade and original PlayStation systems. Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, PSP and demanding arcade performance varies between individual games, emulators, firmware versions and settings.

Linux Operating System: The RG40XX H is a Linux-based retro gaming handheld. It does not run Android applications or Android games.

No Touchscreen: The display does not support touch input. Nintendo DS software requiring touchscreen controls may be unsuitable or require alternative control mapping.

Television Output: Television output uses the console’s Mini HDMI connection. A compatible Mini HDMI to HDMI cable is required and is not included.

Wireless Features: Wi-Fi pairing, streaming, Bluetooth functions and compatible network features depend on the installed firmware, software and external equipment.

External Controllers: Compatible wired and dedicated 2.4GHz wireless controllers can be connected using the appropriate cable, adapter or receiver. Accessories are not included unless specifically stated.

5V Charging Required: Use the supplied charging cable with a properly regulated 5V USB power source rated for 1.5A. Anbernic confirms that compatible USB-C to USB-C charging is supported, but unsupported voltages and incompatible fast-charging modes must not be used.

Charging Damage & Warranty: Damage caused by an unsuitable charger, cable, power supply or adapter—including excessive voltage or current, incompatible fast-charging modes, poor regulation or operation outside the stated 5V/1.5A requirement—is not covered by the Retrolize warranty.

Back Up The System Card: Back up the supplied SanDisk microSD card before replacing firmware, modifying system files or making significant software changes.

Firmware Compatibility: Only install firmware and system files explicitly confirmed as compatible with the Anbernic RG40XX H. Incorrect, incompatible or interrupted firmware installation can leave the console inoperable.

Retrolize Anbernic Warranty

All Anbernic handheld consoles purchased from Retrolize are covered by a 12-month limited warranty against manufacturing defects and hardware faults arising during normal use.

Each console includes a unique 7-digit warranty code, which must remain present and readable on the device for a warranty claim to be accepted. If the warranty code is missing, altered or unreadable, Retrolize may be unable to provide warranty support.

If the console develops a genuine hardware fault during the warranty period, Retrolize will inspect the device and, where appropriate, repair it, replace it or provide another suitable solution.

The warranty does not cover accidental damage, liquid damage, cracked screens, misuse, forced or damaged connections, normal cosmetic wear, expected battery-performance changes, corrupted storage caused by user modification, or problems resulting from user-made software, firmware or system changes.

Damage caused by an unsuitable charger, cable, power supply or adapter is not covered. This includes damage caused by excessive voltage or current, incompatible fast-charging modes, poor voltage regulation or operation outside the stated 5V/1.5A charging requirement.

To make a warranty claim, contact Retrolize with the order number and a clear description of the fault. Photographs or video may be requested to assist with diagnosis.

This warranty is provided in addition to the customer’s statutory rights and applies to products purchased directly from Retrolize or an official Retrolize partner. The separate 14-day returns policy continues to apply to eligible purchases.

Which Systems Run Best On The RG40XX H?

Performance is strongest across Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, NES, Super Nintendo, Master System, Mega Drive, Game Gear, PC Engine, Neo Geo, compatible arcade platforms and original PlayStation software.

Can The RG40XX H Run Nintendo 64 Games?

Selected Nintendo 64 games are supported. Performance varies between individual titles, but the dual analogue controls make the RG40XX H more suitable for compatible Nintendo 64 software than handhelds without analogue sticks.

Can The RG40XX H Run Dreamcast Or PSP Games?

Selected Dreamcast and PSP games can run, particularly less demanding titles. Performance varies by game, emulator, firmware and settings.

Can It Run Nintendo DS Games?

Selected Nintendo DS software is supported through compatible emulator software. The RG40XX H does not have a touchscreen, so games heavily dependent on touch controls may be unsuitable.

Does The RG40XX H Run Android Apps?

No. The RG40XX H uses a Linux operating system and does not run Android applications or Android games.

Can The RGB Lighting Be Changed?

Yes. The analogue-stick lighting supports approximately 16 million colours, adjustable brightness and several lighting effects.

Does The RG40XX H Have Wi-Fi And Bluetooth?

Yes. It includes dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi together with Bluetooth 4.2. Available functions depend on the installed firmware, software and compatible accessories.

Yes. The console has Mini HDMI television output. A compatible Mini HDMI to HDMI cable is required and is not included.

Can I Connect An External Controller?

Yes. Compatible wired USB and Bluetooth controllers are supported. Compatible 2.4GHz wireless controllers can also be used through their own USB receiver and any required USB adapter, which are not included.

Can The Storage Be Expanded?

Yes. The RG40XX H has two microSD card slots and manufacturer-rated expansion support up to 512GB using a compatible card.

Why Does Retrolize Supply A SanDisk MicroSD Card?

Low-cost handheld consoles are often supplied with unbranded storage that can be less dependable. Retrolize uses a genuine SanDisk card to provide a stronger foundation for the operating system and configuration.

Can I Replace Or Update The Operating System?

Yes, but only use firmware and system files confirmed as compatible with the Anbernic RG40XX H. Back up the supplied card before making changes.

Is International Delivery Available?

Yes. International tracked delivery is available to supported destinations, with available services and any applicable import charges shown at checkout.
