Anbernic RG40XX H 64GB Retro Gaming Handheld Emulation Console

The Anbernic RG40XX H 64GB is a Linux retro gaming handheld designed for comfortable horizontal play, classic console emulation and portable gaming.

Its 4-inch IPS display uses OCA full lamination, a sharp 640 × 480 resolution and a traditional 4:3 aspect ratio. This makes it particularly well suited to classic home consoles, handheld systems, original PlayStation software and arcade games.

Inside the RG40XX H is an Allwinner H700 processor with four ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores running at up to 1.5GHz, dual-core Mali-G31 MP2 graphics and 1GB of memory. This provides responsive navigation and dependable performance across most 8-bit, 16-bit, arcade and original PlayStation platforms.

Selected Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, PSP and Nintendo DS software is also supported, although performance and control suitability vary between individual games, emulators and settings.

The horizontal design combines a traditional D-pad and four face buttons with dual analogue sticks, four shoulder controls and built-in vibration. The analogue sticks feature customisable 16-million-colour RGB lighting with adjustable brightness and multiple lighting effects.

Built-in dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and external controller support provide additional options for compatible accessories, streaming and wireless features. Mini HDMI output also allows the handheld to be connected to a compatible television or monitor using a separately available cable.

This upgraded Retrolize configuration includes a genuine 64GB SanDisk microSD card with the Linux system installation prepared and configured before dispatch. Two microSD card slots provide additional flexibility, with manufacturer-rated expansion support up to 512GB using a compatible card.

The built-in 3200mAh rechargeable battery provides up to approximately six hours of use, depending on screen brightness, RGB lighting, wireless connectivity, volume, vibration, emulator and system workload.

Upper-End Performance Varies: The RG40XX H provides strong performance across most 8-bit, 16-bit, arcade and original PlayStation systems. Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, PSP and demanding arcade performance varies between individual games, emulators, firmware versions and settings.

Linux Operating System: The RG40XX H is a Linux-based retro gaming handheld. It does not run Android applications or Android games.

No Touchscreen: The display does not support touch input. Nintendo DS software requiring touchscreen controls may be unsuitable or require alternative control mapping.

Television Output: Television output uses the console’s Mini HDMI connection. A compatible Mini HDMI to HDMI cable is required and is not included.

Wireless Features: Wi-Fi pairing, streaming, Bluetooth functions and compatible network features depend on the installed firmware, software and external equipment.

External Controllers: Compatible wired and dedicated 2.4GHz wireless controllers can be connected using the appropriate cable, adapter or receiver. Accessories are not included unless specifically stated.

5V Charging Required: Use the supplied charging cable with a properly regulated 5V USB power source rated for 1.5A. Anbernic confirms that compatible USB-C to USB-C charging is supported, but unsupported voltages and incompatible fast-charging modes must not be used.

Charging Damage & Warranty: Damage caused by an unsuitable charger, cable, power supply or adapter—including excessive voltage or current, incompatible fast-charging modes, poor regulation or operation outside the stated 5V/1.5A requirement—is not covered by the Retrolize warranty.

Back Up The System Card: Back up the supplied SanDisk microSD card before replacing firmware, modifying system files or making significant software changes.

Firmware Compatibility: Only install firmware and system files explicitly confirmed as compatible with the Anbernic RG40XX H. Incorrect, incompatible or interrupted firmware installation can leave the console inoperable.

Retrolize Anbernic Warranty

All Anbernic handheld consoles purchased from Retrolize are covered by a 12-month limited warranty against manufacturing defects and hardware faults arising during normal use.

Each console includes a unique 7-digit warranty code, which must remain present and readable on the device for a warranty claim to be accepted. If the warranty code is missing, altered or unreadable, Retrolize may be unable to provide warranty support.

If the console develops a genuine hardware fault during the warranty period, Retrolize will inspect the device and, where appropriate, repair it, replace it or provide another suitable solution.

The warranty does not cover accidental damage, liquid damage, cracked screens, misuse, forced or damaged connections, normal cosmetic wear, expected battery-performance changes, corrupted storage caused by user modification, or problems resulting from user-made software, firmware or system changes.

Damage caused by an unsuitable charger, cable, power supply or adapter is not covered. This includes damage caused by excessive voltage or current, incompatible fast-charging modes, poor voltage regulation or operation outside the stated 5V/1.5A charging requirement.

To make a warranty claim, contact Retrolize with the order number and a clear description of the fault. Photographs or video may be requested to assist with diagnosis.

This warranty is provided in addition to the customer’s statutory rights and applies to products purchased directly from Retrolize or an official Retrolize partner. The separate 14-day returns policy continues to apply to eligible purchases.
