Description
Got a retro games console that has stopped working properly? The Retrolize Home Console Repair Service provides professional fault diagnosis and repair for a wide range of original Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Microsoft and Atari home consoles, from straightforward power and game-reading problems through to more involved component-level motherboard faults.
The £34.99 initial diagnosis gets your console onto the Retrolize repair bench so we can properly investigate the reported problem and establish what is required to put it right.
Depending on the console and fault, diagnosis may include complete or partial disassembly, internal inspection, voltage and continuity testing, power supply and power circuit checks, video and audio testing, AV connector inspection, controller port testing, cartridge slot diagnosis, optical drive testing and component-level electronic fault finding.
We regularly diagnose retro console faults including consoles that will not power on, intermittent power, no video or audio, distorted or unstable video output, damaged AV connectors, games failing to load, cartridge-reading problems, optical drive faults, controller port problems, failed capacitors, damaged connectors, corrosion, liquid damage, broken solder joints, damaged PCB traces and previous unsuccessful repairs or modifications.
Optical disc consoles such as the Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation and PlayStation 2 can develop faults involving their disc drives, drive connectors, power supplies and associated circuitry, while cartridge-based systems such as the NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Master System, Mega Drive and Atari consoles can suffer from cartridge slot contamination, damaged connectors, power faults and motherboard-level component failures.
Where possible, we aim to identify and repair the actual cause of the fault rather than simply replacing complete assemblies. Depending on the console and damage found, repairs can include connector replacement, switch replacement, capacitor replacement, damaged solder joint repair, PCB trace and pad repair, corrosion treatment, power supply repair and replacement of failed electronic components.
Once the initial diagnosis has been completed, we will contact you with our findings and provide a quotation for any additional repair work or replacement components required.
No additional chargeable repair work will be carried out without your approval.
The initial diagnostic service is separate from any subsequent repair work. Additional repair labour is charged at our standard workshop rate of £50 per hour + VAT, with replacement parts and components charged separately where required. Any additional costs will be agreed with you before work proceeds.
Once an approved repair has been completed, the console is reassembled and functionally tested to confirm correct operation before being externally cleaned and returned to you.
Completed covered repairs receive a 12-month Retrolize warranty from the date your repaired console is delivered back to you, in addition to your statutory consumer rights.
Retrolize is a UK based Retro Gaming Company specialising in the repair, restoration and modification of original retro gaming hardware, with experience ranging from straightforward mechanical and power faults to detailed component-level motherboard diagnosis.
