Description
Description
Add solderless access to Swiss and Nintendo GameCube homebrew with the PicoLoader v1.0, a clean and reversible GameCube mod designed for compatible DOL-001 and DOL-101 consoles.
Unlike traditional GameCube modchips that require wires to be soldered directly to the motherboard, PicoLoader uses a flexible installation cable fitted within the console's optical-drive connection. This provides a solderless installation without cutting traces or permanently modifying the original Nintendo GameCube motherboard.
PicoLoader allows compatible homebrew software such as Swiss to launch during startup while retaining the original GameCube optical drive. Physical Nintendo GameCube discs can therefore continue to be used normally after the modification has been installed.
Swiss provides a powerful homebrew environment for original GameCube hardware, offering access to compatible SD storage, homebrew applications, video options, software settings and other supported features.
PicoLoader itself launches the homebrew environment rather than providing bulk SD storage. A compatible storage adapter such as SD2SP2, GC2SD or SDGecko is therefore required when accessing files stored on an SD card.
DOL-001 consoles equipped with Serial Port 2 can use an SD2SP2 adapter, providing a discreet SD storage connection underneath the console. Compatible GC2SD and SDGecko adapters can also connect through one of the GameCube memory-card slots.
DOL-101 consoles do not provide the external Serial Port 2 connection required by a standard SD2SP2, making a compatible GC2SD or SDGecko memory-card-slot adapter the straightforward storage option for these systems.
A major advantage of the PicoLoader v1.0 design is its separate replaceable flex cable. The PicoLoader board is not permanently integrated into the installation flex, making the system considerably easier and cheaper to repair if the delicate flex is accidentally damaged during installation.
On the later v1.4 integrated design, damage to the flex is considerably more troublesome because the Pico hardware is attached directly to it. Replacing a damaged v1.4 flex can require the electronics to be desoldered and transferred to a replacement assembly.
With PicoLoader v1.0, a damaged flex can simply be disconnected and replaced while retaining the original PicoLoader board. This kit goes a step further by including two compatible flex cables, giving you a spare from the outset and making the v1.0 version particularly installer-friendly.
Installation remains fully reversible. PicoLoader can be removed and the GameCube returned to its previous hardware configuration without permanent modification to the motherboard.
Because the original optical drive remains installed, PicoLoader is particularly useful for GameCube owners who want access to Swiss and modern homebrew features while continuing to use their original physical disc collection.
For anyone looking for a solderless Nintendo GameCube modchip, Swiss boot solution or reversible GameCube homebrew upgrade, PicoLoader v1.0 provides a particularly serviceable solution with the added reassurance of a replaceable flex design and a second spare flex included in the kit.

SD Storage Adapter Required: PicoLoader does not provide bulk SD storage itself. A compatible SDGecko, GC2SD, SD2SP2 or similar adapter is required when accessing files stored on an SD card.
Console Disassembly Required: Installation is solderless but requires opening the Nintendo GameCube and carefully installing the flexible PCB into the optical-drive connection.
Original Disc Drive Retained: PicoLoader works alongside the original GameCube optical drive rather than replacing it.
Handle The Flex PCB Carefully: Incorrect folding, creasing or installation of the flexible PCB can damage it.

Warranty Information
Warranty Information
This PicoLoader v1.0 is covered by a 12-month limited Retrolize warranty against manufacturing defects and hardware faults arising during normal use.
The warranty does not cover accidental damage, liquid damage, torn or creased flex cables, damaged connectors, excessive force, incorrect installation, electrostatic damage, unauthorised hardware modification or damage caused by incompatible equipment.
Damage caused by incorrectly folding, aligning or inserting the PicoLoader flex cable is considered installation damage and is not covered under warranty.
The v1.0 design allows a damaged flex cable to be replaced separately from the PicoLoader board. Two flex cables are supplied with the kit, but physical installation damage to either cable is not considered a manufacturing fault.
Software configuration problems, incompatible homebrew applications, damaged SD cards, incompatible SD adapters or issues caused by third-party software are not considered hardware faults.
PicoLoader requires compatible GameCube hardware and correctly configured supporting equipment. Problems caused by another console component, optical-drive fault, SD adapter or storage device do not indicate a fault with the PicoLoader itself.
The Retrolize warranty is provided in addition to your statutory consumer rights.
Warranty claims remain subject to the full Retrolize warranty terms.
