A Rechargeable Upgrade For Your GBA Build

The battery fits inside the console’s battery compartment and supplies power through contact connections rather than wires soldered to the motherboard. Once fitted, it lets you recharge through the module’s USB-C socket instead of removing and replacing AA batteries.

The supplied cell is rated at 1800mAh with a nominal voltage of 3.7V. Actual playing time depends on the complete console configuration, including screen brightness, cartridge type, audio settings and additional modifications. A fixed runtime is therefore not specified.

The shell’s screen compatibility remains unchanged: our listed shells are intended for our Highspeedido pre-laminated GBA IPS screens.

USB-C Charging And Integrated Protection

The module supports charging from suitable USB-A or USB-C power sources using the corresponding cable. A blue charging indicator provides a simple visual check: illuminated while charging, then off when charging has finished.

Highspeedido specifies a TI charging chip, with no separate cooling fin required, alongside overvoltage, overcurrent and short-circuit protection. These features are built into the module; correct installation and careful handling of the battery remain essential.

Battery And Charging Board Included: You receive one 1800mAh rechargeable battery with its USB-C circuit board. A charging cable, USB power supply, console and screen kit are not included.

Shell Preparation: The battery drops into the matching Highspeedido laminated-screen shell without trimming the battery compartment. Remove the loose left-hand battery-compartment spring/contact before fitting. This is the removable contact in the housing, not the contacts soldered to the motherboard. Other housings may require modification and are not guaranteed to fit.

Charging Requirements: Use a suitable USB power source providing 5V, with a USB-A-to-USB-C or USB-C-to-USB-C cable. USB-C describes the connection; this kit is not advertised as a fast-charging upgrade. The battery’s 3.7V marking is its nominal cell voltage, not the required USB input voltage.

Charging And Low-Battery Indicators: The module’s blue LED illuminates during charging and switches off when charging is complete. The original GBA motherboard’s low-battery indication does not function normally with this kit, so do not rely on the console’s power light turning red before the battery runs out. Save your game regularly.

Inspect Before Fitting: Check the battery pouch, insulation, wiring, connector, board and USB-C port before installation. Do not install or charge a swollen, punctured, damaged or leaking battery. Keep the protective wrapping intact and avoid squeezing the pouch or bridging the exposed electrical contacts.

Installation Overview

1. Switch off the GBA, disconnect any charging cable or external power, and remove both AA batteries.
2. Confirm that you are using the compatible Highspeedido shell and its USB-C battery cover. Inspect the battery module and check that the battery compartment is clear.
3. Remove the loose left-hand battery-compartment spring/contact from the housing. Leave the motherboard-mounted battery terminals in place.
4. Position the module with its USB-C port aligned with the cover opening and its positive and negative contacts correctly aligned with the console terminals.
5. Seat the left side first, then gently lower the contact side into position. Ensure the module sits securely without trapped wires, distorted contacts or pressure on the battery pouch. Do not force it into place or use a metal tool to lever against the cell.
6. Check console operation before fitting the cover. The cover should close without compressing the battery or pushing the USB-C connector out of alignment.
7. With the console switched off, connect a suitable charging cable and check that the blue charging LED illuminates. It switches off when charging is complete.

No soldering is required for normal installation of the battery module in the compatible shell. Screen installation and any other console modifications have their own requirements.

Coverage applies to the supplied battery and USB-C board, not unrelated faults in your console, screen kit, housing or other installed components. Playing time varies with the console configuration and is not a fixed warranty guarantee.

Inspection Before Installation: Inspect the battery pouch, protective wrapping, wiring, connector, board, contacts and USB-C port before fitting. Do not attempt installation or charging if the module arrives damaged or faulty. Do not continue using a battery that becomes swollen, leaks or shows physical damage.

Installation And Handling Damage: The warranty does not cover damage caused by incorrect fitting, removal, excessive force or unsuitable tools. This includes punctured or crushed battery cells, torn insulation, trapped or detached wires, damaged connectors, bent contacts, short circuits or damage caused by forcing the module into an unsuitable housing.

Charging And External Damage: Damage caused by incorrect voltage, unsuitable or faulty charging equipment, liquid exposure, excessive heat, accidental impact or misuse is not covered. Damage to the USB-C socket caused by excessive force, sideways pressure or pulling on a connected cable is also excluded.

Receiving Hardware And Compatibility: Coverage does not extend to damage caused by incompatible, damaged or incorrectly assembled receiving hardware. The battery must be fitted with the correct contact alignment and adequate clearance inside the housing.

Returns And Statutory Rights: Discretionary returns outside your statutory rights are not accepted once installation has been attempted. This does not remove any applicable statutory cancellation rights or your rights if the item is faulty, not as described or otherwise fails to meet legal requirements. Installation does not automatically remove those rights.

Warranty claims remain subject to the full Retrolize warranty terms. This warranty is additional to your statutory rights, which remain unaffected.

Is This A Complete Console Or A Battery Upgrade?

Does Installation Require Soldering?
