A Shell Matched To Your Screen Upgrade

Choosing a GBA shell involves more than selecting a colour. Different screen kits use different lens sizes, mounting arrangements and internal clearances, so an “IPS-ready” housing is not automatically suitable for every display.

This shell is specifically for the Highspeedido pre-laminated IPS screen supplied by Retrolize. The compatible screen combines its display and glass lens into one assembly, while the replacement housing provides the exterior for your upgraded console. The screen kit is purchased separately.

Refresh The Housing And Controls Together

The package includes a grey button and surround set, grey silicone contact pads, a screw set, power light diffuser and replacement serial and factory labels. This gives you replacement exterior controls and contact membranes alongside the new casing.

The silicone membranes sit beneath the controls and provide their contact action and return pressure. Careful positioning and sensible screw pressure matter: a membrane trapped out of position or an overtightened housing can affect how the buttons feel and respond.

The replacement labels help finish the exterior. They are reproduction items and do not establish an original Nintendo serial number, factory identity or special-edition provenance.

USB-C Battery Cover Included

Each shell includes one USB-C battery cover for use with a compatible rechargeable battery modification. The opening provides access to a correctly positioned charging connector without having to remove the cover for each charge.

Check Your Console: This replacement housing is for the original Nintendo Game Boy Advance AGB-001. It does not fit the Game Boy Advance SP, Game Boy Micro, Game Boy Color or other Game Boy models.

Specific Screen Compatibility: These shells are compatible only with the Highspeedido pre-laminated IPS screens supplied by Retrolize. Use the matching Highspeedido pre-laminated GBA IPS screen kit. They are not suitable for the original GBA LCD, other IPS kits or OLED screens. “IPS-ready” does not mean that every IPS screen will fit.

USB-C Cover, Not A Battery Kit: One USB-C battery cover is included. A rechargeable battery, charging board and USB cable are not included, and the cover alone does not add USB-C charging. Any battery modification must fit the housing and align its charging connector with the cover opening. An additional standard closed battery cover is not supplied.

Screen And Electronics Sold Separately: The shell package does not include an IPS screen, separate glass screen lens, motherboard or speaker. The compatible pre-laminated screen kit supplies its own bonded lens and display assembly.

32-Pin And 40-Pin Connections: These refer to your motherboard’s screen connection, not a separate shell variant. Use the correct ribbon supplied with the compatible Highspeedido screen kit for your motherboard.

Inspect Before Installation: Check the housing halves, screw posts, clips, battery-cover latch, buttons, membranes and supplied fittings before transferring components. If anything is damaged or missing, stop and contact Retrolize before installation.

Installation Overview

1. Confirm that your console is an AGB-001 and that you are using the compatible Highspeedido pre-laminated IPS screen supplied by Retrolize.
2. Switch off the console, remove the game cartridge and disconnect all power. Remove AA batteries or disconnect any existing rechargeable battery before opening the housing.
3. Prepare a clean, soft work surface and correctly fitting tri-point and JIS-compatible crosshead screwdrivers. Keep screws and small fittings organised.
4. Inspect the replacement shell and compare the mounting points with the components you will transfer. Retain any original small fittings not supplied with the replacement housing.
5. Test the screen before installation, following the screen kit’s testing instructions. Do not proceed with installation if the screen shows a fault.
6. Fit the compatible screen using its installation instructions. Avoid pressure on the display, trapped ribbon cables and contact between exposed electronics and conductive parts.
7. Fit the buttons, surrounds, silicone membranes and power light diffuser. Transfer the motherboard, speaker and remaining required fittings without straining wires or connectors.
8. If fitting a rechargeable battery modification, follow that kit’s instructions and check its physical fit and USB-C connector alignment. Do not force a battery or charging board into the housing.
9. Check that the controls and shoulder-button fittings move freely. Bring the housing halves together without force and use the correct screws in the correct positions. Tighten only until snug.
10. Check that the battery cover latches securely. Once the assembly is safe to power, test the display, sound, power switch and every button.

Replacing the housing itself normally does not require soldering. Screen controls, battery modifications or repairs to damaged wiring may require separate soldering work. Use an experienced installer if you are unfamiliar with console disassembly.

This Game Boy Advance replacement shell package includes a 12-month limited Retrolize warranty from the date of delivery against faults in the supplied parts under normal use.

Condition And Coverage: This is a new aftermarket housing package. Coverage applies to the supplied shell and accessories, not unrelated faults in your console, screen kit, battery modification or transferred components.

Inspection Before Installation: Inspect the front and rear housings, screw posts, clips, USB-C battery cover, buttons, membranes, diffuser, screws and labels before transferring components or applying adhesive. Do not attempt installation if an item arrives damaged, incomplete or faulty.

Installation And Handling Damage: The warranty does not cover damage caused by incorrect fitting, removal, excessive force or unsuitable tools. This includes cracked or stripped screw posts, damaged clips, broken battery-cover tabs, overtightened or incorrectly positioned screws, trapped membranes or wiring, and damage caused by forcing incompatible components into the housing.

Modification And External Damage: Damage caused by cutting, sanding, drilling, painting, unsuitable adhesives or solvents, excessive heat, liquid exposure, accidental impact or misuse is not covered.

Screen And Battery Compatibility: These shells are specified for the Highspeedido pre-laminated GBA IPS screens supplied by Retrolize. The warranty does not guarantee fit with other screen kits or unspecified battery modifications. The included USB-C cover does not provide charging electronics, and damage caused by forcing a battery, charging board or connector into an unsuitable position is not covered.

Returns And Statutory Rights: Discretionary returns outside your statutory rights are not accepted once installation has been attempted. This does not remove any applicable statutory cancellation rights or your rights if the item is faulty, not as described or otherwise fails to meet legal requirements. Installation does not automatically remove those rights.

Warranty claims remain subject to the full Retrolize warranty terms. This warranty is additional to your statutory rights, which remain unaffected.

Which Screen Do I Need?

Use the Highspeedido pre-laminated GBA IPS screen supplied by Retrolize. These shells are compatible only with that screen range. Do not choose a different display solely because it is described as IPS, laminated or GBA-compatible.

Can I Use The Original Game Boy Advance LCD?

No. These shells are not compatible with the original GBA LCD. For an original-screen restoration, choose a housing intended for the original display layout.

Will Other IPS Or OLED Screens Fit?

No. This listing supports only Retrolize’s Highspeedido pre-laminated IPS screens. Other IPS and OLED kits are not compatible.

Does The Shell Include A Screen Or Glass Lens?

No. The compatible pre-laminated IPS screen is purchased separately and includes its own bonded glass lens. A separate display or outer glass lens is not supplied with this shell package.

Does The USB-C Cover Make My GBA Rechargeable?

No. The cover provides an opening for the charging connector of a compatible battery modification. You still need a suitable rechargeable battery and charging circuit, neither of which is included.

Are Both Standard And USB-C Battery Covers Included?

No. One USB-C battery cover is supplied. An additional standard closed battery cover is not included.

Do I Need A Different Shell For A 32-Pin Or 40-Pin Motherboard?

No separate pin-count shell variant is required. Those numbers identify the motherboard’s LCD connector. Select the matching ribbon supplied with the compatible Highspeedido screen kit.

Replacing the housing itself normally does not require soldering. Any soldering needed for screen controls, a battery modification or damaged wiring depends on those separate components and their installation instructions.
