Description

This SNES & Super Famicom RGB SCART cable is designed for compatible original Super Nintendo and Super Famicom consoles, providing clean analogue RGBS video through the Nintendo MultiAV connection and a fully shielded EuroSCART cable.

Compatible full-size SNES and Super Famicom systems output native analogue RGB, allowing the cable to carry the red, green and blue video channels separately rather than combining the entire picture into a composite-video signal. This provides sharper edges, cleaner colour separation and reduced colour interference on compatible RGB displays.

The cable uses CVBS Sync, also known as Sync-On-Composite, where composite video carries the synchronisation information for the RGB signal. This creates a standard 15kHz RGBS connection suitable for compatible EuroSCART televisions, CRT displays and retro gaming video processors. CVBS Sync should not be confused with dedicated CSYNC, as composite video is being used specifically as the sync source.

Fully shielded construction helps protect the video, sync and audio signals from electrical interference and crosstalk. The cable uses 24 AWG stranded-copper conductors, aluminium foil shielding and tin-plated copper-mesh shielding, together with an integrated ferrite core to help suppress high-frequency interference.

Inside the SCART connector, an integrated PCB houses the required video components and provides a secure connection between the Nintendo MultiAV output and the 21-pin EuroSCART plug. Stereo audio is carried alongside the RGB video through the same cable.

The cable can be connected directly to a compatible RGB SCART television or CRT. For modern displays, it can also be used with the OSSC or GBSC Pro to convert the original analogue RGB signal for HDMI output.

At approximately 1.3 metres long, the cable provides practical positioning between the console and connected television or video processor without excessive cable length.

Original full-size PAL SNES, NTSC-U SNES and Super Famicom consoles are supported. SNES Jr / SNS-101 and Super Famicom Jr / SHVC-101 systems require a compatible RGB restoration or RGB bypass modification that routes RGB and composite-video sync through the Nintendo MultiAV connector.
