Description

This N64 & GameCube RGB SCART cable is designed for RGB-modded Nintendo 64 consoles and PAL Nintendo GameCube systems, delivering clean analogue RGBS video through a fully shielded EuroSCART connection.

Compatible RGB-modded Nintendo 64 consoles can output separate red, green and blue video signals through the Nintendo MultiAV connection when fitted with a suitable RGB modification. PAL Nintendo GameCube consoles provide native RGB through the same style of MultiAV connection, making this cable suitable for both systems while maintaining the correct console-specific video requirements.

RGB keeps the red, green and blue picture channels separate rather than combining them into a composite-video signal. On compatible displays, this provides sharper edges, cleaner colour separation and reduced colour interference compared with standard composite video.

The cable uses CVBS Sync, with composite video carrying the synchronisation information for the RGB signal. This produces a standard 15kHz RGBS connection suitable for compatible EuroSCART televisions, CRT displays and retro gaming video processors. CVBS Sync should not be confused with dedicated CSYNC, as the composite-video signal is being used specifically as the sync source.

Fully shielded construction helps protect the RGB, sync and audio signals from electrical interference and crosstalk. The cable uses 24 AWG stranded-copper conductors, aluminium foil shielding and tin-plated copper-mesh shielding, together with an integrated ferrite core for additional high-frequency interference suppression.

An internal PCB within the SCART connector houses the required video components and provides a secure connection between the Nintendo MultiAV output and the 21-pin EuroSCART plug. Stereo audio is carried alongside the RGB video, allowing picture and sound to be connected through a single cable.

The cable can be connected directly to a compatible RGB SCART television or CRT. For modern displays, it can also be paired with the OSSC or GBSC Pro for conversion of the original analogue RGB signal to HDMI.

At approximately 1.3 metres long, the cable provides practical positioning between the console and connected display or video processor without excessive cable length.

Important: An original Nintendo 64 does not output RGB without modification. The N64 must have a compatible RGB modification installed that routes the required RGB signals through the Nintendo MultiAV connection. PAL Nintendo GameCube consoles provide RGB natively and do not require an RGB modification.

Supported Systems

Nintendo 64

PAL Nintendo 64: Supported with a compatible RGB modification that outputs RGB through the Nintendo MultiAV connection.

NTSC-U Nintendo 64: Supported with a compatible RGB modification that outputs RGB through the Nintendo MultiAV connection.

NTSC-J Nintendo 64: Supported with a compatible RGB modification that outputs RGB through the Nintendo MultiAV connection.

The cable does not add RGB output to an unmodified Nintendo 64. The installed RGB modification must provide the required red, green and blue signals while retaining composite video for synchronisation.

Nintendo GameCube

PAL Nintendo GameCube DOL-001: Supported through the Analogue AV Out.

PAL Nintendo GameCube DOL-101: Supported through the Analogue AV Out.

PAL GameCube consoles provide standard-definition RGB directly through the Nintendo MultiAV connection.

Compatible Displays & Video Equipment

EuroSCART Capable Televisions: Supported

OSSC AV1 RGB SCART Input: Supported

GBSC Pro RGB SCART Input: Supported

Compatible RGBS-To-YPbPr Converter: Supported

Professional RGB Monitor: Supported with a suitable EuroSCART-to-BNC or compatible RGBS breakout cable

Critical Info

EuroSCART Connection: Designed for European 21-pin EuroSCART equipment.

15kHz RGB Output: Carries standard-definition analogue RGB and does not provide HDMI, component video or 480p output.

Sync-On-Composite: Composite video is used as the synchronisation source for the RGB signal.

Warranty Information

This Premium Nintendo RGB SCART Cable is covered by a 12-month limited Retrolize warranty against manufacturing defects and hardware faults arising during normal use.

The warranty does not cover accidental damage, liquid damage, crushed or cut cabling, bent connector pins, excessive pulling, damaged strain relief, unauthorised modification or faults caused by incompatible consoles, modifications or display equipment.

Console incompatibility, incorrect RGB modification wiring, unsupported video modes, JP21 equipment, composite-only SCART inputs or devices that do not accept 15kHz RGBS are not considered product faults.

Warranty claims remain subject to the full Retrolize warranty terms.
